Mystmoor Submissions

Call for submission

I have a planned Kickstarter for my next project aimed to launch late May or early June 2024, entitled MYSTMOOR.

MYSTMOOR is a fantasy horror setting and campaign for your favourite TTPRG game i.e. it is designed to be system agnostic and flexible enough to be placed into most low-magic medieval-fantasy settings.  It endeavours to blend heroic action with investigations into horrifying mysteries.

A special purpose of this project is to allow interested Backers to help shape certain elements of MYSTMOOR, as will be detailed in the campaign (e.g. creating a shop, a noble family of the land, to even an NPC based on the Backer to roam about).  It is an experiment to add some community-based extra-texture world-building!

Random Tables appears to be quite the rage in the TTRPG world.  So, I thought I’d create a way to allow interested parties who like to make such tables get involved with the project!

Thus this is a call out for people to consider submitting a D20 random table related to Mystmoorian themes to be added into the mix.

If your submission is accepted for the project, you will get the following in thanks:

A. Your name will be included with the table i.e. fully credited.

B. Non-AI art will be added to the page entry to give it some extra oomph, related to the theme of the table.

C. Regardless of the Kickstarter success i.e. if it fails, I’d make a PDF booklet of all accepted submission and then distribute to anyone whose work was accepted to be part of it.

D. If you end up also Backing the Kickstarter campaign for getting the core Mystmoor project, you will also receive for free, as opposed to paying as an Add-on (just make sure your backer email is the same as the one you submitted your table with):

Consider what Mystmoor is about:

The setting is a sort of late Medieval / fantasy land, a kind of fictionalized Devonshire/Dartmoor.   There is a major Citadel, numerous manors and estates, villages, wandering nomads, rivers, bogs, mires, tors, standing stones, fog/mist, ancient pre-human ruins, with legends galore. MYSTMOOR is inspired by the fantastic and horror materials the author was exposed to growing up; this includes major tributes to the works of Richard Matheson, M. R. James, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert E. Howard, Ramsey Campbell, Bram Stoker, Sheridan Le Fanu, Dashiell Hammett and more. There are nods to Kolchak: the Night Stalker, the Cthulhu Mythos, Hammer films and more present.

Pick a theme and come up with a title for the table:

Encounters in the fog in the seedy area of the Citadel; village events; happenings in a bog; odd items found at a market; freak weather; spooky perceptions in the dark fens; tall tales told at taverns; and so on. See the sample below.

After I receive your final Table, I reserve the right to edit it for space and content (e.g. grammar fixes and so on).

NOTE: NO AI allowed. If AI is detected, it will be rejected.

NOTE: Submissions put forward that promote stigmatic portrayals of groups, antisemitism, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and all other forms of discrimination, will be rejected.
